-This is about a single mother who makes ends meet by selling marijuana in the fictional suburb of Agrestic, California. The series exposes the dirty little secrets that lie behind the pristine lawns and shiny closed doors of homes in the of this gated community. Nancy Botwin (Mary Louise Parker) is the suburban mom who resorts to selling weed to support her family after her husband unexpectedly dies. Nancy's friend and nemesis is Celia Hodes (Elizabeth Perkins).

-Brier Tucket (Pell James) is a New York model that falls in love with Luke (Steven Strait), a struggling musician, after they meet on the subway. After being a success, the model moves to L.A. to try her hand at acting. She gets into an acting class where she meets another actress named Clea (Ashlee Simpson), and they become friends. Brier again crosses paths with Luke, and the two girls decide to help out his carreer. As he gets more famous, they find out that the price may be higher than they wanted.
-Carrie is Brier's acerbic agent and sometimes surrogate mom.

Dori and Mark are still drawn to each other, but Mrs. Hagen, the head of Dori's halfway house insists the young couple stay away from each other. Mark is sent to a unit overseas, so Mark and Dori do their best despite the distance between them.
-Mrs. Dubois is Sue's (girl hurt in DWI crash) mother. She presses charges against Mark and is why he's in the Marines.

-This show was based on the mystery books by Rex Stout. It starred Maury Chaykin as a private investigator in 50's New York City. Wolfe is the genius who solves all the cases, but he uses his assistant Archie Goodwin (Timothy Hutton) to find clues and do all the "dirty work."
-In this episode, Wolfe and Archie hunt for the mother of an abandoned baby.
-Ellen Tenzer is a retired nurse who from time to time cares for babies temporarily. Archie locates Ellen, but he is unwilling to help, and the next day she is found strangled in her car on a Manhattan street.
