ER: Emergency Room (1997) (TV)
-Playing Duncan Stewart in "The Long Way Around"
-ER is about the County General Hospital where doctors and nurses are faced with life-and-death decisions daily. The staff is led by Dr. John Carter, and the chief of staff, Dr. Kerry Weaver. Also included are Nurse Abby Lockhart (Maura Tierney) and Dr. Doug Ross (George Clooney).
-Carol is trapped in a convenience store after a failed robbery attempt and must put her medical knowledge to the test as she tries to save one of the robbers and the store's owner.
-Duncan Stewart is the other robber who escapes from the store, and takes Carol with him, but he is shot running away from the police and dies in the hospital.
 
Brassed Off (1996)

-A small Yorkshire mining town is threatened with being shut down and the only hope for the town's men is to enter their Grimley Colliery Brass Band into a national competition. They believe they have no hope until Gloria (Tara Fitzgerald) appears carrying her Flugelhorn. At first mocked for being a woman, she soon becomes the only chance for the band to win. In joining the band she puts her relationship with her childhood sweetheart on the line.

Emma (1996)

-Emma (Gwyneth Paltrow) is a young lady who fancies herself a match-make and she plans to do it again, and again, this time by connecting her new friend Harriet Smith to the local parson, Mr. Elton.
Unfortunately Mr. Elton and Miss Smith have class differences that put them in two separate worlds. Mr. Elton proposes to Emma and she rejects him, so he leaves town in embarrassment. Harriet is determined to bounce back, and Emma is determined to try match-making again.
-Frank Churchill is Mr. Weston's son. He is dashing and charming and when he enters the picture, Emma thinks herself in love, but she soon realizes she is not.
 
Tales from the Crypt (1996) (TV)

- This horror anthology always started and ended with the Crypt Keeper rattling off a ghoulish pun, and featured stories of murder, the super natural, gore and humor. Each show always had a twisted ending of sorts.
-In this episode, a young female criminal leaves her partner after one too many botched jobs, and all is not what it seems to be when she finds someone to make him jealous.
 
The Pillow Book (1996)

-As a young girl in Japan, Nagiko's father paints characters on her face, and her aunt reads to her from "The Pillow Book", the diary of a 10th-century lady-in-waiting. Nagiko grows up, obsessed with books, papers, and writing on bodies, and her sexual odyssey (and the creation of her own Pillow Book) is a "parfait mélange" of classical Japanese, modern Chinese, and Western film images.
 
Trainspotting (1996)

-This movie is about Mark Renton and his friends that are a bunch of losers, liars, psychos, thieves and junkies. Hilarious but harrowing, the film charts the disintegration of their friendship as they lean towards self destruction. Mark alone has the insight and opportunity to escape his fate.
-Mark Renton (aka Rents, the Rent Boy) is the central character and narrator of the movie. He's a heroin addict who has rejected society's values.
